Position: Volunteer Pastoral Care Location: Volunteer at one of 100+ service locations across NSW & ACT At Uniting, we take real steps toward making the world a better place. Why volunteer with Uniting? • It’s fun, flexible and rewarding! • Join a network of over 1400 volunteers who are making a real difference to lives of others • Be part of a like-minded, compassionate, and inclusive community • Gain valuable industry skills and experience What You’ll Be Doing You will work alongside staff and fellow volunteers to organise and deliver engaging activities, such as: • Provide a pastoral presence and spiritual care to residents and families. • Offer a safe and empathetic space for residents to share their stories and find meaning. • Support the chaplain and pastoral care team in delivering pastoral and spiritual services. • Assist with spiritual activities such as communion and worship. • Uphold ethical and professional boundaries, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment. • Report any concerns to your designated chaplain or pastoral care. Volunteer characteristics we are looking for: • Aligned to Uniting’s values: Compassionate, Respectful, Imaginative, Bold • Commitment: Days and times for volunteering are flexible however roles which build relationships with people require a minimum commitment of 6-months. You can discuss your availability with our team. • Able to commit and be punctual and inform your manager if something arises. • A willingness to complete Uniting’s essential online induction and training • A willingness to undergo backgrounds checks: which include a National Police check, reference checks, and other role dependent checks such as Working with Children Check • Person centred and a great communicator Application review timeframes and process The ability to secure a volunteering position Uniting depends on several factors, including availability at your requested location and your ability to provide all necessary pre-requisites. Once you register your interest, our team will review your application and attempt to match you with a suitable opportunity. An interview may be required before final selection.
