Position Summary: Verge Genomics is seeking a highly motivated individual to spearhead pre-clinical development of disease modifying treatments for neurodegenerative diseases. You will be responsible for advancing our current and emerging lead candidate pipeline through all stages of pre-clinical development, acting as a leader of multidisciplinary project teams. You will oversee important external collaborations with contract research organizations (CROs), leading academic groups, non-profits, and pharmaceutical partners. As one of the first employees at Verge, you will develop help build the foundation of a revolutionary drug development model. Responsibilities : Manages and leads multiple projects evaluating efficacy of small molecules for treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease, ALS, and Parkinson’s Disease Identifies, engages, and manages external collaborations with CROS, leading academic groups, and patient advocacy organizations Generate and implement pre-clinical development plans with aggressive timelines that are well-designed, rigorous, and cost-efficient Maintain strong relationships with pharmaceutical partners and key opinion leaders, with emphasis on understanding their needs and adapting research strategy accordingly Requirements: Minimum of 2-5 years of doctoral, post-doctoral or professional experience in Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, or other Life Science related field Experience with in vitro and in vivo models of Alzheimer’s Disease, ALS, and/or Parkinson’s Disease Experience establishing and managing research collaborations with CROs and academic institutions Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary scientific discovery settings. Demonstrated organizational skills in managing multiple projects at a time Preferred: Experience testing potential therapeutic molecules in biotech/pharmaceutical settings Familiarity with experimental endpoints ranging from histology to behavior Strong scientific background as evidenced by publications in high impact journals Familiarity with large-scale genomic and gene expression analyses Education : MS or PhD in Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, Biochemistry, or other related life sciences field Location : Must be based in the San Francisco area to work in person.
