About this Position The Sales Engineer is responsible for driving sales growth and business development within an assigned customer portfolio in the industrial coatings and surface treatment market. This role focuses on promoting pretreatment technologies and chemical solutions used prior to painting processes, developing new business opportunities, and maintaining strong relationships with OEMs, Tier suppliers, metal finishing companies, and industrial manufacturers. The position works closely with Technical Customer Service, Operations, and Product Management teams to deliver value-added solutions that improve coating performance, corrosion resistance, and production efficiency. What you´ll do Business Development Sales Growth Drive sales growth and profitability within the assigned territory and customer portfolio. Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities related to surface treatment and pretreatment processes for painting applications. Execute commercial strategies aligned with business unit objectives and regional growth plans. Manage lead generation, qualification, and follow-up activities through CRM tools. Develop account plans and customer roadmaps to achieve sales targets and long-term partnerships. Customer Relationship Management Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors, and key stakeholders. Act as the primary technical-commercial contact for assigned accounts. Conduct regular customer visits to understand manufacturing processes, identify needs, and propose tailored solutions. Monitor customer satisfaction and ensure excellent service levels throughout the sales cycle. Technical Support Application Expertise Provide technical guidance on surface preparation, pretreatment technologies, phosphating processes, conversion coatings, cleaning systems, and corrosion protection solutions. Collaborate with Technical Service teams to conduct product trials, line audits, and application validations. Support customers in optimizing paint adhesion, coating performance, and process efficiency. Assist in resolving technical issues, complaints, and product performance concerns. Commercial Management Execute pricing strategies and commercial negotiations in accordance with company guidelines. Manage quotations, contracts, pricing updates, and sales agreements. Support order management, credit limit requests, returns, and other customer service requirements. Ensure accurate documentation and CRM reporting of opportunities and account activities. Market Intelligence Strategic Planning Monitor market trends, customer needs, competitor activities, and emerging technologies within the coatings and metal treatment industries. Provide feedback to management regarding business opportunities, market developments, and customer requirements. Participate in industry events, trade shows, and technical seminars to expand market presence and identify new opportunities. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Technical Customer Service, Operations, Supply Chain, Product Development, and Customer Service teams to ensure successful project execution. Coordinate product testing, implementation projects, and continuous improvement initiatives. Support compliance with corporate policies, safety standards, and quality requirements.
