The role: There are two main areas that this position will cover which are during the FEED and Detail Design Phase and Technical Assurance during third party detail design, manufacture testing, installation and commissioning. During the FEED and Detail Design, which will be undertaken in-house by INTECSEA, the Umbilical Engineer will be required to advise on the type of umbilicals and prepare specifications for the design and manufacture. Knowledge of the costs of umbilical manufacture and installation would also be useful in compiling budget and cost estimates. The Umbilical Engineer will report to the INTECSEA project engineering manager. During the Execute Phase of a Project INTECSEA is sometimes contracted by the Client to carry out the Technical Assurance of third party detailed design and manufacture by the EPIC contractor. We become the Client’s specialist engineering organisation to review and comment on the documentation the EPIC contractor produces. The Umbilical engineer will be required to review all documentation related to the design, manufacture testing and installation of the project umbilicals. The engineer will be expected to use his experience to assist the Client and EPIC contractor produce fit for purpose equipment that will meet the specifications and project requirements. During this Technical Assurance role the engineer will spend most of the time at the Umbilical Manufacture’s location acting as Client Representative reporting to the INTECSEA Technical Assurance Project Manager and Client Engineering Manager. This Client Representative role will need to be located at the umbilical fabrication site for around 12 months for each project. Typical Responsibilities: Applies diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields within a team setting. Makes decisions as to engineering approach and suitability of results. Has capability to oversee use of advanced analytical techniques. Implements all aspects of Company policies and engineering standards in the execution of assignments. May occasionally provide input to development of design guidelines and procedures. Occasionally is INTECSEA representative in Client meetings Routinely carries out complex assignments requiring the use of nonstandard procedures as part of a team. Reviews written work and calculations by others and consolidates with own work into well-written and detailed technical reports of a specific focus. Work may result in development of procedures that are more efficient or more accurate than current practice. Serves as an in-house technical resource across multiple projects. Has specific and detailed knowledge of analytical methods, equipment, materials or systems and has published papers in field of expertise. Desired Skills & Experience: Ability to communicate at all levels within the organization. Proven track record of exceeding performance metrics. Job Requirements Education & Experience: Appropriate degree and chartered engineer preferred (or 15 Years’ experience in a related industry) Minimum of 10 years related industry experience covering the design, manufacture, testing, and installation of umbilicals subsea oil and gas production systems. Chartered engineer preferred. QHSE Requirements: Become knowledgeable in the application of the INTECSEA EMS and occasionally provide input to its further development. Ensure EMS implementation and that processes and guidelines are followed and in accordance with HSE Guideline for INTECSEA Personnel.
